EMDR Revolution – a guide book on PTSD relief for clients

Ever hunted for help, when you’ve been pretty down and not yet out? Securing help when you need it most is a challenge, especially for invisible maladies like PTSD. Whether from military experiences or any of life’s trauma inducing situations, it’s tough to find help and to evaluate it when you are down or depleted.

EMDR Revolution for PTSD and other traumas in a guide book from the clients perspectiveIt’s why I instantly connected Tal Croitoru’s work to reader interests on MilSuccessNet. She is an accredited, EMDR practitioner, MSW and MBA and a doctoral researcher and lecturer and the University of Haifa.

Her guide book was written purposefully from the client’s point of view. This user friendly book helps people identify their challenges and also to envision what good help and health should look like.

THE *EMDR REVOLUTION, CHANGE YOUR LIFE ONE MEMORY AT A TIME was introduced to me even before it was available on Amazon (link provided below). It grabbed me as much for you, dear reader, as for me, personally.    *Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

I saw value in Tal Croitoru’s book for these reasons:

  • PTSD relief in significantly shorter trauma treatment times
  • Reader friendly content usable amidst transition challenges
  • Potential to improve Personal outlook and health
  • Stress relief for those who care for and about traumatized clients by virtue of relatively more rapid results
  • How to steps to get to work with an EMDR practitioner

It’s Croitoru’s method of information sharing, however, that distinguishes her book from other EMDR tomes produced by therapeutic experts. It is designed to help from the client’s perspective.  I felt it was like having an advocate in my hand. A deep caring and her attention to scientific and professional detail come through.

The book presents engaging case histories – not all military, rather from a variety of socio economic and cultural life situations.

The suggestions and solutions offered in the stories, appendices and explanations range from altering some behavior patterns on one hand, to eradicating internal obstacles and improving achievements on the other.

That range is also what moves EMDR therapy beyond the realm of strictly military PTSD into far reaching trauma such as the experience of terror attacks, natural disasters or for victims of violence. It has more recently been applied effectively in helping to eliminate internal obstacles in professional, intimate, sports or academic situations.

Croitoru’s exposure to EMDR’s ability to cut through time and trauma significantly set her on a mission to help as many people as she could. Her earliest under-standing of it’s application was as treatment for violently assaulted women in war torn African zones.

Closer to home turf in Israel, she used it to treat diplomatic staff, who were exposed to unexpected horrors while on assignment. In each case, suffering was addressed more rapidly than she ever thought and with long lasting result.

“Most people haven’t heard of EMDR because the method was developed in the late 1980’s (1987, to be exact). It usually takes many years for a psychological treatment method to become common knowledge,” says Croitoru.

“In the U.S. EMDR was used after the Oklahoma City bombing, the Columbine massacre, and 9/11. This method has been used to treat victims of natural disasters in the West and in the Far East (hurricanes and tsunamis). In addition, EMDR has been used more in newer fields such as drug problems.

As early as the 1990’s, there were reports about the success of EMDR in treating exam anxiety and in improving sports achievements. In the public sector like hospitals and public mental health clinics, the use of EMDR still focuses on the initial therapeutic goal it was developed for: post-traumatic stress.”
